The Illusion of Separation:   Humans have this incredibly naive belief that life can be broken down into neat little packages and that each package can be dealt with as if it were a stand-alone issue.   For example, in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, we are taught by our so-called leaders that we are separate from God, separate form nature and Separate from each other.   Some additional examples of false beliefs:

** We can take a species out of nature's finely tuned ecosystem
       (such as wolves or lions) without disrupting the entire eco-system,

** We can clear cut a forest and plant tiny seedling
      and think we done nothing wrong,  

** That what happens in the Arctic Circle does not affect our lives,  

**That global warming is something we can deal with later,   

** That we can divide the land into small piece and
      then destroy the piece to which we claim ownership,   

** That we can throw trash "away" and think that's the end of it,   

** That we can pollute our streams, lakes, rivers, the ocean, itself,
       and the air we breath and not reap the consequences. 

** When someone else or the environment pays most of the cost
        for our food, and/or our self-centered lifestyles,
        we think we're winners.  

This list could go on for several more pages, but this is enough to clearly demonstrate that:   

Life is not what we've been
led to believe it is by those who claim to know.  

When we view addictive behavior as just one piece of a much larger picture, Money & Profit Addiction takes on a new and even more sinister twist.   Here's an the alphabet soup of addictive behavior:  

*** Ego-atheism
*** Religion-Inspired Extremism
*** Addiction to Money & Profits
*** Addiction to High-Stakes Gambling
*** Addiction to Risk Taking.  

There are additional factors such as:

*** Childhood conditioning, 
*** Genetic inheritance,
*** Propensities that we were were born with, 
*** and probably several others that we are not, at the moment, aware of.

Childhood Programming  is a commonly-ignored factor that strongly affects an addict's behavior.   Childhood programming is/are the basic beliefs that were installed into every one of us when we were young children.   By the time a person becomes one of the highly-influential Money & Profit Addicts, he (occasionally, but rarely she)  is commonly over age forty.   Most of the highly-influential Money & Profit Addictare much older than that.   This places political and economic power in the hands of people whose basic behavior is a product of an old, significantly-out-of-date, and (in many ways) dysfunctional belief system.  To see how and why this matters, readers are directed to the page titled: The Grandfather Generation   

Behavior Dictated by Religious Programming:   A person's spiritual, religious, and philosophic beliefs (or the lack of them) are extremely influential in determining his/her behavior.   Religious beliefs, regardless of what they are, are now, and always have  been, the core, fundamental determining factors in controlling human conduct.  

Religion plugs ancient, unprovable beliefs into our minds about What God is  and about The Nature of Universal Reality.   

Religion gives is beliefs to use as answers to unanswerable question such as:  What happens after death of the physical body?"   Why We Are Here on Earth," 

Religion substitutes for scientific evidence regarding question such as  Am I my body?"  or Am I something other than a physical body? 

Religious beliefs, regardless of whether or not they are true, provide the basic guidelines for all human conduct.   They set the ground rules for interpersonal relationships.   They are the sources of morals and ethics.   They are the guidelines in conducting our daily affairs.   They determine who we believe we are and how we relate to the world.   They all too frequently find expression as addictive, compulsive, behavior  --  behavior that is nothing short of extremeism.   

Religious Extremism:   Islam and Christianity both show us clear examples of people whose religious beliefs can be taken to extremes.   Religious extremist believe that murdering others is OK, because they are working for God and committing murder under instructions from God.   

Ego-Atheism:   Another a major source of social, economic, political and environmental problems comes from self-centered atheist who are also addicted to money and profit.    Many ego-atheists hide their true beliefs under the cloak of religious piety so atheists are often extremely hard to see directly.   One must examine their behavior, the company they keep and the results they produce.     

The Bottom Line:   When we add all these factors together, it leads us to the logical conclusion that:  

We cannot allow
any individuals or small groups
of people to be irrevocable in charge of anything.  

The probability that they will function as addicts and feed their addiction at the expense of the rest of us is just too high.
